Something Constructive

I started the weekend with good intentions of working on This Is the Day and getting that top section almost finished, and, to be fair, I did pull it out for a little while on Friday evening and put in a couple of rows of fill-in. But yesterday I had a change of plan (imagine that!) and decided to work on a couple of smalls. The first is a fob that I've been thinking about for a while, using one of the motifs from the Hunt Sampler. I dug out the sampler chart and went stash diving for some fabric and came up with a scrap of cream-colored 36-count Edinburgh linen. I had already decided to use some Needle Necessities floss that I had pulled out a couple of weeks ago with the thought of using it on a different project (I decided against that and just didn't get around to putting the floss away). Anyway, here is where things stand this evening:

The fob is destined for the naked scissors in the picture. I plan to put my initial in the bottom motif, then backstitch around both of them so I can hand stitch the two sides together. I think I see some twisted cord in my future. I have more naked scissors in my stitching bag, so I'm planning more fobs for them.

I also decided it was time to assemble the biscornu that I finished stitching in, ahem, 2009 (I know, it's pathetic). I started on that today after lunch.

Top: Bottom:
And a cute little ladybug on one of the corners:

This was stitched on 32-count "Country French" linen with DMC threads; the chart is a freebie that I found here. She has some lovely freebies on her site.
.
That cats are trying to tell me that it is getting on for bedtime. Here's hoping that everyone has a lovely week -- happy stitching!
