A Bad Picture of a Very Cool Thing

I flew to West Virginia this weekend rather than driving because it was a quickie trip.  When we landed at Dulles, we taxied past the space shuttle Enterprise perched atop its 747, ready for transport.  Today, when I left, the pilot was able to taxi much closer and he stopped so we could get pictures.  He turned the airplane so that people on both sides could get a good view; I thought that was very nice of him.  I didn't have my camera (note to self: TAKE YOUR CAMERA WHEN YOU TRAVEL!) so I had to use my phone.  It's just a plain ol' cell phone with few bells and whistles and no apps, so it's not a great picture but it's better than no picture at all.

This is actually Enterprise, which has never flown in space and which has been at the Air & Space Museum at Dulles Aiport for a few years.  It's being replaced at the museum by Discovery and will be taken to New York City to be displayed on the retired aircraft carrier Intrepid.

Oh how cool is that!!! Thanks for the picture, and thanks for the interesting background too. So the Air And Space Museum gets the real thing now and NYC gets the never flown one. lol!
