Críochnaithe!

According to the English-Irish translator I found on-line, críochnaithe is the Irish word for "finished".  I thought it was appropriate to post it in Irish, since the piece that I finally finished is Celtic Birds.  I sat down with it yesterday evening and made some good progress, so I decided that I could finish it today.  It's about time.  The begin date that I have jotted on the chart is 2/22/2009.  Only took 3 years.  It's kind of ridiculous that it  should take me 3 years to finish a piece that's about an inch and a half high and maybe seven and a half inches long.  No reason, no excuse.  Just the way it is.

The design is stitched on a piece of 40-count Lakeside "Magnolia" with some Needle Necessities floss that I found in my stash.  I liked the combination of greens and blues -- thought it fit pretty well with the Celtic design.  It's Needle Necessities 135, "Bali Hai", which of course you can't buy anymore, but Threadworx hs a replacement -- 1053, I think.

I think this piece is destined to become a book weight.  A nice piece of backing fabric and some plastic beads inside should work nicely.

No traveling this weekend, just errands and church and stitching.  Not a bad combination.

Wishing everyone a great week -- happy stitching!

Beautiful finish! I love the colors you used -- that fiber is gorgeous! I love the idea of making it into a bookweight too.
