I Am SO Bad!

As if I don't have enough WIPs already....  Maybe it's the snow and the cold weather.  I started feeling a touch of start-itis yesterday whilst doing a bit of tidying.  The tidying segued into browsing through some stash, and the end result of it all was that I started the Rose Quaker sampler.  There's a picture of the finished sampler on the Wiehenburg website.  It's a beautiful sampler with beautiful colors.  I kind of "Quakered-out" a few years ago after stitching Long Dog's Mouline Rouge and a couple of other Quaker samplers (pre-blog, I think), but this one really appeals to me.

The first order of business was to find a piece of fabric, so I went stash-diving to see what I could come up with.  I wanted a piece of 36- or 40-count in a white or antique white; I found the right color but not the right size.  I also came across a piece of 29-count Glenshee linen that I bought who-knows how long ago for some long forgotten project, planned but never stitched, so I decided it would do, but, alas, it also was too small.  Then it hit me --  why not stitch it over 1 on the 29-count?  Really, why not?  So that's what I decided to do.  I pulled the threads -- I'm using the called-for DMCs -- and popped that bad boy on the Q-Snaps and away we went!  Here's a progress pic as of this evening:

If you look at the pic on the Wiehenburg website, these are the motifs in the top right corner.  I was moving right along this evening when I decided I really needed to put it away.

Something else I accomplished this weekend was un-kitting the Angel of Cross Stitch.  My post last week helped me come to grips with the fact that she just doesn't interest me like she did and it was time to let her go.  So I put the flosses back in the floss boxes (and found a couple that I needed for the sampler!) and put the fabric in the drawer until I decide what to do with it.  I can't bring myself to throw it away, so eventually I will probably cut out the stitched part and use the rest of the fabric for...well, for other projects.

On a non-stitchy note, if you are a person who prays, I would appreciate if you would remember my buddy Ray in your prayers this week.  He's a friend from my old airline days and will be undergoing brain surgery on Tuesday for removal of a benign tumor.  If you're not inclined to pray but would send some good thoughts his way, that would be appreciated as well.

I'll leave you with a picture of the furry ones from a couple of nights ago.  Timothy was laying on the sofa next to me, then Mimi hopped up and joined us, so we had a few minutes of togetherness until Timothy decided that a few was enough.

Have a great week and happy stitching!

Awww, such sweet furry ones! I wish I stitched on a couch so Mia could curl up next to me! I will deifnitely send good thoughts and prayers for your friend Ray. Hope it all goes well for him. And the Rose Quaker! I love that one -- the colors are wonderful! I hear you on the tiring of Quakers thing, but some pieces are just meant to be stitched! Good for you on unkitting something that doesn't appeal anymore too. Have a great week!

Your new start is lovely and I will add your friend to my prayers. I'm a little sad to see you give up on the Angel of Cross Stitch but I definitely can feel your pain with that one. It was a struggle to finish mine.

Over one is the perfect thing for your Quaker Rose! It'll be stunning, so keep going.

Best wishes to your friend for a speedy recovery.
