The Snow Stopped, the Sun Came Out, and the People Thought of Good Things

Good Thing #1:  Awesome neighbors!  I looked out the front window Thursday afternoon and saw the guy next door, Don, and Mike, the guy across the street from him, out with their snowblowers, clearing our driveway.  I went out with the shovel to try to make a path off the porch and on the walk down to the driveway, and Mike's girlfriend came over with her shovel and helped.  We got the walk in pretty good shape, then she and I shoveled out the car.  Literally.  I told DH that we need to get a snowblower so we can start taking our turn!

Good Thing #2:  Having extra time off work.  Our office was closed, of course, on Thursday; the work we do is somewhat time-sensitive, but it's not of a critical nature.  No need to be there in the middle of the worst snowstorm in recent years.  It was nice to have the extra time to do some of the household chores that I have trouble getting to over the course of a normal week.  Some friends of ours were planning to drive up yesterday and spend the night, but they ended up not coming because of the weather.  Even so, I managed to do some much-needed tidying.

Good Thing #3:  Electricity.  As in, ours didn't go off.  Thank goodness!  Enough said.

Good Thing #4:  Progress on Isabella.  I'll share a pic later in the week, but I was able to sit down Thursday evening and make some nice progress.  Yay.

I started kitting Thankful Davis this afternoon.  I pulled some of the threads; didn't have all of them in my floss box.  Some of them are probably kitted up with other stuff, and I might have to buy some.  I can't do that until next month, though, as I've already spent over $24 of my monthly $25 allowance for stitching stuff.  I expect it'll take me that long or longer to finish Isabella, and it's not like I have nothing else to stitch :-)

Afternoon project:
One of the ministries of our church is making baby blankets for the maternity ward at the local hospital.  These are those no-sew fleecy blankets; we make them and give them to the hospital, and the hospital gives them to mothers to take home with their newborns.  Kind of neat, actually.  I sat down this afternoon and made this one.  The lady who coordinates the project buys the fabric and cuts it to the proper size.  This probably took me around 2-1/2 hours to make.  I think it's so cute!

Time for some stitching and the Olympics...stay warm!

Glad you survived the storm and didn't lose your power! It sounds like your neighbors are good people. Very nice baby blanket, Karen!

Karen, love the baby blanket, especially the little pig! And, I wear my pig shirt you sent me all the time. Now, my friends say "you're wearing that pig shirt again!"
