The house faces west, so the back deck is toward, of course, the east. The robin still shows up early in the morning and sings his song to the dawn, and one morning this little visitor came to sit for a while:
We're in the process of having the deck re-done, so the peeling white paint will be replaced with something called "California Rustic", which is brown with some orange-ish undertones. It should look nice.
I haven't been totally neglecting my stitching. It's been a little difficult; by the time I get home, have dinner, clean up the kitchen, and pack the next day's lunches, I don't have much time left for stitching. I decided to try a new shift last week so now I'm getting off at 3pm. Much better! I don't get up significantly earlier; I just don't have time to dilly-dally. Getting off at 3 is more than adequate compensation for rising just a little earlier and eliminating the dawdling.
However, having said that, here's my progress on This Is the Day:
I'm beginning to think I might actually finish this thing! I'm cheating just a little bit on the lettering in the little box on the left and doing it with half cross stitches. It's over 1 on 40 count -- that's my excuse :-)
Finally, a picture of the furry ones, settled in and comfy:
Wishing everyone a great week and happy stitching!

Glad your internet is hooked up! Love your This is the Day progress. The shift change sounds like a good thing for sure -- especially if you don't have to get up that much earlier. Nice to get out at 3! Cute kitties!!
I think that actually may be a mourning dove, though it's hard to tell. Maybe it's just the light. Anyway, you are making good progress on This is the Day!
