There Really Are Nice People Out There

My guy has been riding motorcycles for many years and I have recently discovered that riding along with him on the back of the bike can be a most enjoyable experience.  My first attempt at riding along was a few years ago and was a dismal failure, as the bike was a sport bike that was NOT a good bike for two people to ride -- especially if one of them had never ridden a motorcycle in her life and was a little apprehensive to begin with.  We got about half a mile down the road then had to turn around and go back, I was that terrified.  But the bike he rides to work is less sporty and has a wider passenger seat, so a couple of weeks ago I tried it again and decided it wasn't so bad after all.

So yesterday afternoon was lovely, good riding weather and we decided to take a little excursion.  We stopped in Shepherdstown, WV, at a little coffee shop; we went in, ordered our coffee, and then sat down at a little table for two over by the wall.  We had just sat down when a lady who had been sitting at a larger table approached us and said something like "Why don't you trade tables with me?  The one I have is larger and you'll have more room for your helmets."  We tried to decline; we were just having coffee and didn't really need a larger table, but she literally wouldn't take no for an answer, so we traded tables with her and when we were settled, we both remarked on what a nice gesture that was on her part.  She left the coffee shop before we did and came by our table and said, "Enjoy your afternoon and stay safe!"  What a nice lady!

Remember the bird's nest I posted about a few weeks ago?  Well, there's been some activity.  I noticed a lot of feathers and bits and pieces of grass this weekend:

I kept an eye on it and saw a pair of little birds -- sparrows or finches, not sure which; I'll have to look them up in the bird book -- going in and out, carrying nesting materials, so maybe we'll be having some baby birds!

Have a great week - happy stitching!

It sounds like you had a nice day out. There are kind people out there. I think that many just forget that it only takes a moment to be kind.

That's so great that you had a fun time and met a nice lady too. And how cool that you have some nesting activity too!

I love to ride! My favorite ride was up to the top of Mt. Evans here in Colorado. It was thrilling looking over the side of the road. Keep trying it out.

Enjoy your birds and their family.

My first husband always had bikes and we went everywhere on one. Now i'm older i see more danger and must admit that i would be a tad scared too, there are way more cars on the road now than there were 30 odd years ago! Still, i'm glad you got to enjoy it at last, it is a great thrill :-)

It will be interesting to see what birds eventually fly from the nest :-)

Have fun

What a nice lady in the coffee shop, it's so nice when you come across a kind stranger.

It will be nice to discover what kind of birds you have in the nest.
