Happy First Day of Spring!

Yesterday and today have been lovely here in western PA, very pleasant and spring-like. After a winter full of miserable, crappy weather, it's just nice that it's officially spring; this is, of course, western Pennsylvania and spring on the calendar doesn't necessarily mean spring weather but for now it's very nice. I wasn't able to open the slider; the screen came off the track weeks ago and I didn't worry about it much since the weather was cold, but yesterday I tried to get it back in the track and absolutely could not. I'll have to ask my guy to have a go at it. I'm sure there's some sort of trick to it -- a subtle flip of the wrist or a gentle nudge -- and he'll probably be able to get it back on track in about 10 seconds. But until it's fixed, I really don't want to leave the door open because I don't want a) 6- and 8-legged critters coming in and b) 4-legged critters going out.

Oh well, enough household issues. Stitching! I scored a copy of Drawn Thread's Sampler Game Board on E-Bay last week -- hooray! My guy has a chess set that he really likes, and my plan is to stitch this piece and then have it framed into a piece that can be used as a game table where the chess set can be displayed. We neither of us really play chess -- I used to play with my dad but haven't in years upon years -- but I think it would be nice to have the set out rather than in a box stuck in a closet.

Earth Sampler was my project this weekend and here's my progress so far:
It's coming along pretty quickly; I did most of this yesterday evening and this afternoon. I'm still not sure about that pink rabbit. I'm afraid that any of the "rabbit" colors in the piece might make that corner a little blah-looking. I'll get in a little more before I decide what to do about him, if anything.

Mimi was my stitching companion today.
"Mom, can I lay here and snooze while you stitch? I promise I'll be good." (She was.)

Wishes for a good week to everyone -- happy stitching!
