It's Finished It's Finished It's Finished!!!!

I put the last stitches in And They Sinned at around 9 o'clock this evening! I started it on September 16, 2003, so I'm only 4 days shy of exactly 6 years of working on it. Well, working on it on and off, but working on it.

Here is a pic of where I started tonight:

Here's after the last stitches went in. The bottom looks distorted, but that's just because of the Q Snaps. It looked fine after I took it off.

And finally, here's the whole thing. It's kind of hard to find a spot where you can get a good picture of something this big; this was taken in the dining room where I'd been stitching. The light was as good there as anywhere. I had to shoo Mimi away; she was curious but she left it alone.

Now I'll start saving my pennies to get it framed. I have the perfect spot on the landing on the wall perpendicular to the window. It'll be in the light so you can see it but the sun won't hit it directly. If I ever get it framed.

My next goal is to finish Hunt Sampler. It's fairly close to being done; I figure a few Saturday Night Stitching sessions and a few Sunday afternoons and it'll be finis as well.

Sunday Progress

I put in about 4-1/2 hours on ATS today and managed to fill in all the fiddly little areas around the tree and the flower bush on the right side. Tomorrow I plan to do the rest of the lettering and as much of the grass as I can. It's getting there!

Stitching and Flowers

It was a productive Saturday around here. I did some chores that badly needed doing, got Mount Laundry whittled down to size and even managed to get in a couple of hours on And They Sinned! Here is where I started at 7pm:

And here's how it looked when I put it down at 9:

I would have stitched a little longer but I wanted to go upstairs and have a good soak in the tub. I pulled something in my back today lifting a bag of papers to take to the recycling bin (and I know how I'm supposed to lift, but I didn't of course) so I thought a little time in some hot water would be good for it. It seems to have helped some, so I'll top it off with an Advil before bed.

I finished reading Harry Potter 2 yesterday -- since the new movie has come out, it only seemed logical to re-read the books -- so now I can concentrate on In The Walled Gardens. The author is Iranian and the book is set in Iran in the late 70s, before the revolution. It's a good book and I'm sure that I'll enjoy it even more now that I can concentrate on it. I borrowed Twilight from my niece, so I should probably read that next and get it back to her.
*
I'll leave you with a couple of flower pictures. This is called Bells of Ireland; I just kind of dumped the seeds in the flower box with the nasturtium seeds, so it's amazing that it actually came up and even more amazing that it bloomed. They can get to around 12 inches tall when properly grown and can be cut and dried and used in arrangements. Mine is maybe 7 inches tall and I don't think I'll cut it. I like it where it is.

A Post About Not Much

I can hear thunder from my little corner in the tutoring lab at school where I'm trying to work on my coding. I say "trying" because my brain is just not focusing after not sleeping all that well last night and then getting up at o-dark-early to drop my sweetie at the airport for a 6am flight. Honestly, it should be illegal for airplanes to fly that early!

Not much stitching this weekend. We went out Friday evening, and then to dinner and a movie (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince -- not a bad flick!) on Saturday, and on Sunday I just didn't feel like dragging out ATS. I did work on the biscornu freebie and got the back/bottom part of that finished and put a few stitches into the top. It's a pretty quick stitch and I just love the color.

Thank you for all the nice comments abut And They Sinned. Donna, I'm doing the grass in half-crosses. That's actually what the chart calls for and I think doing all that green in full crosses would just send me over.the.edge.

I'll try to get some pics to include the next time I post!

Sunday Stitching

I've been having computer issues the past couple of days, so I didn't get anything posted yesterday. I did a good bit on ATS; the motifs are all done, as is all the lettering except for the final date and my initials. That leaves the rest of the dreaded grass!

I'm glad you didn't put yours up on E-Bay, Donna. It's a lot of work but it's a very satisfying project. It's not difficult at all; it's just that the size is so daunting. Mine is stitched on 36 count fabric with DMC floss. I kind of wish I'd ponied up for the GAST threads but it's too late for that now -- I'm not frogging it!

ATS Progress

I decided to work on And They Sinned for Saturday Night Stitching this evening. I put in just under an hour and a half, and I hope to work on it for an hour or two tomorrow afternoon. It's getting there!

And They Sinned Progress

I managed to stitch on ATS for not quite 2-1/2 hours this afternoon. Here's where I started:

And here's where I got to:

I would have liked to have made a little more progress but it just didn't happen. I'm sorely tempted to take some time off from work; I could probably finish this baby if I had 2 or 3 days to devote to it. (And yes, that does say 2003 -- I started stitching on this in September of that year!)
'
Donna, you had asked what issue of SANQ the Little Paradise Sampler is in. It's in Summer 2002. I actually bought the thread pack from Lydia that weekend at Wyndham!

Some Stitching

And an attempt to post a picture.

And They Sinned is my biggest WIP and I'm almost done with it! I started it in September (I think!) 2003 and I'm almost finished with the grass at the bottom. I'm down to the last two rows of text and almost to the last row of motifs.
I'd really, really like to get it finished this summer. I don't know if that can happen, but I'm going to try! I'll try to get a picture of the whole thing for the next post.
Another round of severe thunderstorms is supposed to roll through tonight -- a good night to stay home and stitch!
