"What Are You Reading?" Wednesday

How about a round of book talk?  Sounds good for a chilly Wednesday, at least that was what I was thinking this morning (at a time when my mind should have been on my driving...bad Karen).  So...what are you reading?  I just finished The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection, one of Alexander McCall Smith's Botswana books, and now I'm making pretty good progress in As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales From the Making of The Princess Bride.  The author is Cary Elwes, who played Westley in The Princess Bride, and this is his memoir of the making of that movie.  It's actually pretty entertaining.  Of course, when I finish this book, then I'll have to re-read The Princess Bride (which I read probably 30+ years ago) and then watch the movie again!

I didn't know that Cary Elwes has written a book about how the movie was made. I read The Princess Bride several times and watched the movie very often. It's always fun.

Right now I'm reading The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte by Syrie James. I've read pretty much all of the novels of the Bronte sisters, plus a novel or two based on their lives. Just finished The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert, which I enjoyed a lot. (Never read her famous book, Eat, Pray, Love.) I confess to never having read The Princess Bride. I've just seen the movie.

I just finished reading "All He Ever Wanted" by Anita Shreve. Haven't picked out my next book yet.

Ooo, sounds like fun. I'm in the midst of 4 things, but only 2 of them made the trip to DC with me -- The Sayers Swindle, a mystery by Victoria Abbot (the most likely read of the afternoon) and Lois McMaster Bujold's Borders of Infinity which is an audio I will use to make office work more palatable on a Sunday afternoon.
