Almost Heaven!

DH and I took a little trip through West Virginia this past weekend.  We spent some time with his mom and then drove home on Sunday, avoiding the interstate for the most part and taking the scenic route.  West Virginia is a beautiful state; it really is "Almost Heaven".

This is the view from my MIL's backyard.  It's a beautiful place.

These are the mountains in the southern part of the state, west of Beckley.

And here.  This one was taken from Bolt Mountain.  Beautiful!

The Green Bank Telescope, or GBT, is the largest fully-steerable radio telescope in the world.  Tours are available but we were in a bit of a time crunch, so that'll be for another time.

 Very cool!

Seneca Rocks.  Wow!

Hope you enjoyed this short travelogue.

Oh, very nice! I've heard that the area around that telescope is one area where you can't have things like cell reception or wifi etc? Anyway, good ole John Denver -- he knew what he was talking about. :D

What beautiful scenic photos! Looks like the leaves have turned more down there than up here in Connecticut, love the autumn colors!
